The historic center of Pierrefeu-du-Var was built in the 11th century on the hill of Sainte-Croix around the castrum of Petra Foco, the feudal castle that formerly occupied its summit. Over time, the habitat reached the neighboring hills (Saint-Michel) and valleys (Sigou). From the end of the 20th century, it extended to the eastern plains formed during the Permian depression (299-251 million years ago), where the hospital, campsite, and sports complex of Pierrefeu-du-Var now stand.
