Metz Cathedral is part of the Diocese of Metz, in the Grand Est region. Its construction lasted three centuries, from 1220 to 1552. It was transformed several times by numerous architects but always under Gothic architecture's criteria. It became the 2nd highest cathedral in France at the time of its construction, and its vault is among the highest in the country. It also has the largest Gothic glazed surface of any similar monument in Europe.
