In free access from sunrise to sunset, the Jardin Darcy is the first public garden created in Dijon in 1880. This Neo-Renaissance style garden designed by the architect Félix Vionnois is organized around a pond flanked by two imposing staircases with balustraded terraces and a set of waterfalls. It is located on the water reservoir built between 1838 and 1840 by the engineer Henri Darcy to supply the city with drinking water. The 7,000 liters of water per minute that then arrived in the Darcy reservoir made Dijon the second best-served city with drinking water in Europe after Rome. Today, the reservoir stores water intended for watering the tram's lawned platforms.
