With 10,389 residents in 2018 and a population density of 131 inhabitants per square kilometer, La Londe-les-Maures is considered an urban municipality. Long under the dependence of the town of Hyères, of which it was considered a district at the end of the 18th century, the village developed in the 19th century around agricultural estates and mining. In January 1901, it obtained its separation from Hyères and the status of municipality. Proud of its independence, La Londe-les-Maures is today a fully-fledged urban unit only consisting of its own population.
