The owner of the Domaine d’Esthine, Brigitte Pieau, has a true passion for the Cotentin donkeys (Equus asinus) that she gently trains. Naturally quiet, the donkey has a dove-grey colour and its mane is straight like that of its African cousin, the zebra. At adulthood (around 4 years old), the Cotentin donkey measures between 1.20m and 1.35m at the withers, and the female between 1.15m and 1.30m. The foals are weaned at 10 months, without any trauma. The male foals are sold after 18 months, once they are socialised.
