A fragile insular ecosystem

Integrated into the Port-Cros and Porquerolles National Park and listed as a Natura 2000 Site with the Hyères Islands, the island of Porquerolles is nonetheless subject to numerous risks. Its ecosystem is weakened by its insular nature, by spray, and by marine pollution. Particularly wooded, Porquerolles is threatened by a risk of fire all the higher as the tourist and leisure attendance is significant. Recently introduced or invasive species can also represent a hazard for its seabird colonies.
