The English Thoroughbred is a fragile horse whose average longevity - between twenty and twenty-five years - is lower than that of other horse breeds. It is easily injured and therefore requires a lot of care and attention. It cannot live in the meadow all year round but must exercise regularly to maintain its physical and mental balance. At the Haras des Étincelles in the Calvados department, shelters have, therefore, been set up on each meadow for its comfort and protection.
