The belvedere of the lighthouse of Verzenay stands 82 ft high (25 m) and is accessed after climbing 101 steps. It allows a 360° panorama that opens on the vineyards surrounding the village. Built in 1909, the lighthouse of Verzenay suffered heavy damage during World War I. It later served as a machine gun post for the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. Almost entirely destroyed by the conflict, it remained abandoned until the municipality of Verzenay bought it in 1987 and decided to restore and extend it. In 1999, a museum dedicated to the vine was inaugurated next to the lighthouse.
