The forest of Othe occupies 2/3 of the surface of Joigny and extends to Troyes. Its 69,189 acres (28,000 ha ) are bordered by the valleys of Vanne, Yonne, and Armançon. It is home to many springs and five types of afforestation: sessile and pedunculate oaks, hornbeams, beeches, and cherry trees, while the copses are more made up of brambles, hazelnuts and privet, field roses, and hawthorns.
