Climate change is reflected in particular by more frequent, longer, and more intense periods of drought. They participate in weakening species such as fir and spruce. The Ribeauvillé Forest, near Riquewihr, is an essential reservoir for the conservation of animal life and the vitality of species. The Forestry Office maintains dead trees with cavities, used by bats, certain mammals, woodpeckers, and insects. The forest develops an underfloor, made up of shrub and arborescent species, favorable to the entomofauna (population of insects).
