A forest filled with legends
The forest of Othe is the breeding ground for many legends, often linked to its numerous springs, which appeared miraculously. A child is said to have regained his sight at the Étangs de Saint-Ange, while evil beings, the Voirloups, roam the forest at night and light fires with their eyes. In Saint-Mards-en-Othe, a mysterious woman leaves bloody clothes on the eve of All Saints' Day. They have to be returned cleaned on penalty of death.
