Since the creation of Port Guillaume in Dives-sur-Mer in 1991, a metal footbridge has been used to reach Cabourg without taking the Brigade-Piron bridge. Some 426 ft (130 m) in length, it is entirely pedestrian, and only bicycles can take it at walking speed. Up to 2,000 pedestrians cross the bridge during summer to reach Cabourg's beach.
