A focus on vulnerable young

The lynxes of the Jura massif are victims of road collisions, poaching, and animal trafficking. When an adult female goes missing, her young have little chance of surviving. The Centre Athénas in l'Étoile near Lons-le-Saunier takes them in, raises them, and releases them into the wild when they are mature enough to be independent. The center has thus cared for nearly 34 orphans and released about thirty since 2006. They are equipped with an Argos/GPS collar that allows their monitoring during the first year.
