Stand-up paddleboarding or SUP is a sport of Polynesian origin that has developed widely in the United States since the 1960s and is now very successful in Europe and especially in France. This complete sport, accessible to everyone regardless of age, gender, or physical condition, is practiced in several ways. It allows surfing waves or engaging in long-distance races in calm waters but also fishing, fitness, yoga, and many other activities. In August 2021, the Occitania stand-up paddle league in France even created a coaching diploma and planned for the emergence of 24 new clubs in the region.
