A discreet but sound presence

More often heard than seen, the gray cicada (Cicada orni) is very common in Provence and in the Sainte-Victoire massif. With its rather dull and gray appearance merging with the bark of trees, it is a discreet insect. Differentiated by the close observation of their abdomens, the male and the female look alike at first sight. They have the same large brown eyes and identical transparent, ribbed wings spotted with eleven black dots.
