The waters of La Mare beach are renowned for their great clarity and the beach for its tranquility. It extends near Montfarville, northeast of the Cotentin peninsula and 1,25 miles (2 km) south of Barfleur. The rural village houses a white granite church built in 1763 and renowned for its 13th-century bell tower. Its vault is decorated with coffers and 19 paintings by Guillaume Fouace, born in nearby Réville. The church and its rich interior ornamentations have been listed as Historical Monuments since 1994.
