In 2018, Gassin was home to 2,586 inhabitants, a drop of 5.59% compared to 2013, contrasting with the departmental increase trend. Its population density of 105 inhabitants per square kilometer is relatively low and results in a phenomenon of dispersed housing more widespread than in the neighboring municipalities. However, Gassin has experienced several significant phases of demographic growth, especially in the 19th century with the explosion of the cultivation of cork and the proliferation of factories. At the beginning of the 20th century, the village benefited from a tourist boom with the establishment of the railway.
