In 2018, the Plaza Athénée Hotel selected Bruno Moinard and Claire Bétaille’s project to renovate the 25 Art Deco rooms and suites on the seventh floor. The architects reworked all the elements of the décor – partitions, furniture, accessories, lighting, paintings on the walls, carpets on the floor – in a less static, more rebellious, more committed Art Deco style. Solid oak, blond and bleached, is introduced and light is present everywhere, subdued by the pleated linen blinds made by one of the last French master plasterers, Pietro Seminelli. Scarlet accents scattered throughout recall the hotel’s colour code.
