A cross lastingly restored in 2004

The Croix de Provence overlooks Notre-Dame-de-Victoire Chapel and a 17th-century priory in the Bouches-du-Rhône department. Inaugurated in 1875, it underwent renovation for the first time in 1982 before benefiting from a lasting and thorough restoration operation in 2004. The last intervention was carried out after the cross had been damaged and even broken at the end of one of its branches by lightning in 2002 and 2003. At the same time, a stone-colored reinforced concrete facing, forming a peripheral bench opening at 360° onto the surrounding landscapes, replaced the old, widely cracked stone plinth.
