A crater susceptible to erosion
0
0
Covered with snow in winter, the landscape surrounding Puy de la Vache consists of cooled lava bombs scattered on a ground partially composed of pozzolana, a volcanic rock. The volcano's half-moon crater, particularly susceptible to erosion, requires hikers not to stray from the marked trails. The general instability of the terrain and the presence of numerous screes make it necessary to equip oneself with good hiking shoes.
