Riquewihr has an architectural heritage made up of medieval and Renaissance monuments. It has developed its tourism thanks to the reputation of its viticulture, its numerous cellars, and its gastronomy. Among the locals, 13% of Alsatians return to the village once a year. To preserve its historical heritage, emphasis has been placed on maintenance and enhancement. Riquewihr is home to four museums and several art galleries. However, it does not wish to become a city-museum but to preserve the quality of life of its inhabitants through controlled tourism.
