A controlled development

Since its creation in the early 1960s, the Lac de Serre-Ponçon has experienced a controlled development that gives pride of place to nature. The often steep shores of the lake have helped maintain the wilderness of the environment. Of the 56 miles (90 km) of shoreline, only 8 miles (13 km) have been devoted to residential and tourist development, particularly in the Embrun-Baratier plain and on slopes with a favorable view and topography.
