The greater flamingo (Phœnicopterus roseus) is a sociable and gregarious bird that gathers in hundreds or thousands of individuals on the feeding or nesting sites of the Camargue. There, it spends most of its time filtering the water with its beak for its alimentation or smoothing its plumage. At rest, the flamingo often stands on one leg like storks.
