The gardens of the Musée International de la Parfumerie were designed in 2003 as a conservatory of the perfume plants of the Pays de Grasse before becoming an awareness tool for the museum in 2010. The municipality had only some 100 acres (40 ha) of cultivation of perfume plants left in the early 2000s. It decided to create gardens where the traditional species of perfumery rub shoulders with landscaped areas to preserve local heritage and promote know-how acquired over centuries.
