Famous throughout the world for their sale of wines which ensured the survival of the institution, the Hospices de Beaune were born from the bet of Nicolas Rolin. The Chancellor of the Duke of Burgundy, he wished to offer care and shelter to the poor and sick. The site mostly innovated by favoring the comfort of the sick and feeding them well. The challenge consisted in bringing together all the medical disciplines of the time (15th century), from apothecaries to barbers, surgeons, and doctors, and succeeding in having these professions work together whereas they were not used to outside the battlefields.
