The great mosque of Djenné, in Mali (West Africa) is the largest terracotta building in the world and one of the most prestigious monuments on the African continent. 20 meters high, it was first built in the 13th century but has been demolished several times. The last reconstruction dates back to 1906. The great mosque of Djenné has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988.
