A collective life in harems
0
0
Przewalski horses live year round in family groups called harems made up of a dominant stallion, several mares, and their offsprings. The constitution and number of these groups vary over time to increase the genetic variability of the foals. When the young males begin to threaten the dominant stallion, they are kicked out of the harem to avoid any risk of inbreeding.
