A clean and quiet river

The Orne is a quiet river for most of its 105 miles (170 km) long course. Crossing the Norman Switzerland, it lends itself to family outings in canoe-kayak over 17 miles (28 km). Many points around Clécy rent electric or rowing boats to enjoy the gorges that border the river. The clarity of the water has favored the return of two rare and protected aquatic species: the European otter and the freshwater mussel. In the more oxygenated fast currents, one can see brown trouts and sculpins among the buttercup meadows. Water lilies hide large predators such as pikes, zanders, or perches.
