The skyline of Le Havre is instantly recognizable thanks to its port and the octagonal lantern tower of the Saint-Joseph church. The monument is emblematic of the reconstruction of the city center following the Second World War. From 1945 to 1964, the architect Auguste Perret and no less than 18 collaborators led the construction of some 12,000 homes and civil buildings. UNESCO listed the area as a World Heritage Site in 2005.
