A characteristic “krou, krou”
The Common Crane (Grus grus) is a shy bird that flees at the slightest danger. It will run a few metres with its wings spread before flying away. His scream, in a high and harsh tone, carries across several miles of distance. It sounds like a croak, similar to “krou”, “grououj”, or “kaerr”! Variations can be heard on the nesting grounds, especially during the spectacular courtship. Its name, Crane or Grus, comes from its call.
