The chapel of the citadel of Sisteron, built in the 15th century in a late Gothic style, rises on a terrace carried by arcades resting on powerful pillars. It quickly lost its religious function and was transformed into a dungeon used from the 17th century as accommodation for the king's lieutenant, barracks, and prison. Rehabilitated in the mid-1930s, the chapel was bombed in August 1944 and rebuilt in 1970. Every year, on August 14, a mass is celebrated there in memory of the victims of wars.
