Lorraine Regional Nature Park covers nearly 542,150 acres (219,400 ha), or 11% of the region's area, over the three departments of Meuse, Meurthe-et-Moselle, and Moselle. It comprises the plain of Woëvre, the hills of Côtes de Meuse, as well as Madine Lake. The plain's landscapes alternate forests with cereal areas and orchards. Its numerous ponds and wetlands also make it a noteworthy fishing region.
