Built on protected alluvial zones, the Pont de Normandie undergoes regular checks. The Seine estuary on which it extends is a Natura 2000 area that brings together a significant diversity of fauna and flora, particularly birds. During painting works, three peregrine falcon nests and two kestrel nests were discovered in the pillars. The work was stopped to allow the birth of four chicks. The Le Chêne association, the Maison de l'Estuaire, and the DREAL (Regional Directorate for Environment, Organization, and Housing) are in charge of animal protection in the region.
