A breed recognized in 1883

Camembert, cream, and butter would not be emblems of Normandy without the milk of Norman cows. The breed may have landed from a Viking longship during the Middle Ages, but it has officially existed since 1883 when it was mentioned in the Herd Book of cattle breeds. A crossing with Augeronnes lengthened Norman cows' silhouette, and the Cauchoises brought them signature udders and a milk renowned throughout the world.
