A breed adapted to the sun

Originally from the Cotentin region, the Norman cow was crossed, in the 18th century, with the Augeronne, which gave it greater muscle mass, and the Cauchoise, which increased its udders and lengthened its head. Its brown-rimmed glasses and muzzle allow it to withstand the sun, hence a good adaptation in the hot countries of Latin America. However, the breed remains the emblem of Normandy and is renowned for producing the milk with the highest protein content in France.
