A body covered with a pruinosity
0
0
The gray cicada (Cicada orni) has an average body length of 1.1 in (28 mm) reaching 1.5 in (39 mm) in total length, wings included, for a wingspan of 2.9 in (74 mm). Its brown and green body is covered with a pruinosity (waxy, slightly powdery layer) that makes it almost undetectable on tree barks. The end of its wing veins is punctually spotted with eleven black dots visible on each of its front wings, a morphological feature characteristic of the species.
