A boat with several lives

The Don du Vent had several lives and names (Nordstrand and Fatima) before becoming in 1979 one of the prestigious old rigs moored at the Quai d'Honneur of the Vieux-Port (Old Port) of Marseille. This auric ketch with an overall length of 98 ft (30 m) was built by the German Navy in 1947. It is a two-master sailboat with trapezoidal mainsails which has been used indistinctly for mine clearance, coastal surveillance, fishing, and human and material transport by the German Navy. The Don du Vent was later part of the dolce vita of the Côte d'Azur and its festivals in the 1960s and 1970s.
