In this photo, the Chaudefour forest appears as a mostly balanced mix of deciduous trees in the foreground and conifers in the background. In this respect, it is representative of the forests of the Monts Dore region which, according to species surveys, present 50% of deciduous trees – including 26% of beeches, 16% of oaks, 5% of ash trees – and 50% of conifers, including 30% of common spruces, 11% of Scots pines and 6% of silver firs.
