A baby every two years

The Domaine d'Esthine continues the tradition of the Cotentin donkeys (Equus asinus). The females are put to breeding every two years so as to leave them enough time of rest between pregnancies (lasting from 12 to 14 months). During the 3 months which follow the birth of their foal, the donkeys are not milked, thus allowing the babies to grow up at a good rhythm. From their second trimester onwards, excess milk is then used in the Domaine's saponification workshop.
