In Verzenay, an 82 ft (25 m) lighthouse stands immersed in a sea of vines. Joseph Goulet built it in 1909 to promote his champagne wines. Until 1914, the lighthouse's restaurant and tavern hosted numerous festivities. At the top of the monument, a 360° panorama opens on the vineyards after climbing 101 steps. An eco-museum has stood next to the lighthouse since 1999, explaining the daily life and history of the local winegrowers, among other things.
