The museum’s underground cave
0
0
A waterfall staircase, covered in black ceramic, descends to the foot of the Louis Vuitton Foundation. On the right, a corridor made up of a sequence of forty-three triangular columns runs alongside the museum’s underground cave. Each column is covered with mirrors on two sides. The third side, made of yellow glass tiles, is lit from the inside. The permanent installation is the work of Icelandic-Danish artist Olafur Eliasson, who has called the concept “Inside the Horizon”. As visitors move through the work, the play of reflections between the mirrors creates a kaleidoscopic effect that dematerialises the environment.
