Inspired by a color spectrum

American artist Ellsworth Kelly was entrusted with decorating the auditorium of the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. He painted a stage curtain inspired by the color spectrum he had been fond of since the 1940s. A special fabric was developed with sound engineers, and the artist painted it with 12 bright colors entitled Spectrum VIII. The Spectrum I by Ellsworth Kelly dates from 1953 and is on display in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. It consists of 13 parts instead of the current 12.
