Initially offered in two bodies, coupe and convertible, Ford equipped its Mustang with a third Fastback coupe variant in September 1964. It was given the cold shoulder upon its release but has become the most successful model among Mustang enthusiasts over the years. Buyers could choose between an in-line six-cylinder engine or V8s of various displacements. They also had to select whether they would drive mechanical or automatic gearboxes. A 1965 Mustang convertible sometimes circles the autodrome of the Cité de l'Automobile in Mulhouse.
