The history of the Domaine de Villarceaux began in the 12th century with a simple wooden fortified settlement. Not far from there, King Louis VII financed the establishment of a Benedictine priory. The seigneury of Villarceaux was created a century later. Writings mention a Guillaume de Bourg, Lord of Villarceaux and Sérifontaine, on the occasion of his daughter’s marriage. From the 13th to the 17th century, two families held the lordship: the Trie family (until 1520) and the Mornay family (1520-1691). The last lord of Villarceaux was Charles-Jean-Baptiste du Tillet (1710-1796). After the abolition of privileges, the estate was sold.
