The 230 Prim’Holstein cows of the 30 Arpents farm – located in Favières, in the Seine-et-Marne region – are kept on 80 hectares of grassland and produce 7,000 litres of milk per day. The herd is fed with cereals, all grown on the estate. In summer, fans installed in the stables ensure their well-being when it gets too hot. The farm belongs to Baron Edmond de Rothschild, who is keen to perpetuate the cheese-making tradition of the Brie region. The 30 Arpents farm cheese factory is now the last to produce Brie de Meaux farmhouse PDO cheese exclusively from milk produced on the farm.
