Sculpted for eternity, the tombstone of the knight Ulrich von Hus, Lord of Issenheim, is presented in the nave of the former Dominican convent in Colmar. The Vosges yellow sandstone slab comes from the church of the Antonine order in Issenheim. It was purchased by the Unterlinden Museum in 1923. The 14th-century knight is depicted with all the equipment befitting his position, with a strapped and buckled sword and gloves at his side. The effigy wears a pelmet and a camail on his head. He is dressed in short-sleeved chain mail and a slit tunic. At his feet are the claws of an animal, perhaps a lion.
