The Côte d'Albâtre (Alabaster Coast) is located in the Pays de Caux all along the English Channel. Its 80 miles (130 km) of chalky cliffs, interspersed with valleys, spread over almost the entire coastline of the Seine-Maritime department. The cliffs rise from 98 to 393 ft (30 to 120 m) and are made up of Upper Cretaceous flint chalk that sometimes gives a whitish color to the sea water. Since 2009, the part between Sainte-Adresse and Le Tréport has been listed as a Natura 2000 area.
