It was believed to have been extinct since the 1950s. The giant lacewing (Polystoechotes punctata) is an insect that has just reappeared in the United States. In 2012, an American entomologist recovered this insect and added it to his private collection. The years passed without any scientific study being carried out. Eleven years later, the entomologist launched analyses. The insect is indeed a specimen of Polystoechotes punctata that appeared 100 million years ago and has been extinct since the 1950s.
