Why is there less oxygen at altitude?

The higher the altitude, the more the oxygen is low. This drop in oxygen levels is due to a decrease in atmospheric pressure. The air contains fewer molecules and therefore less oxygen. For example, at Mount Everest (Asia), which rises to 8,849 meters, the air pressure is one third of that found at sea level. Photo credit: Samuel Ferrara
