Why is our galaxy called the Milky Way?

0
The Earth is part of the Milky Way, a galaxy that gathers at least 100 billion planets. The Greeks named our galaxy galaxías kýklos, which means the milky circle. According to the Greek myth, the goddess Hera tried to remove Heraclès from her breast and succeeds by leaving a squirt of milk spreading in the sky. The Romans called it Via Lactea after the Greek definition.
